Background: This study examines whether a work of art can understand Frida Kahlo's inner self from a psychoanalytic point of view and whether it has a healing effect through self-exploration. The study's approach is based on the need to verify whether the artist's work supports the theoretical position of art psychotherapy, that is, painting is an expression of unconsciousness and is treated by interpreting and insighting the transferred unconscious content.

Purpose: From a psychoanalytic point of view, the purpose of the study is to analyze major works in the transition period of life with Frida Kahlo and to find out the expressiveness and healing meaning of art.

Method: In order to verify the research problem, the works drawn at the major turning point of life with Frida Kahlo was organized in chronological order, and the symbols of unconsciousness projected into the works were analyzed by referring to various research documents.

Results: Frieda Kahlo's work was an active search process for his anxiety, oppression, and conflict, and it seems that the therapeutic properties of art, the image, sublimation, expression, and catharsis, all worked.

Conclusion: It can be seen that the act of expressing art brings therapeutic meaning to the act of expression itself.
